What Are The Different Types Of Safety Glasses?

Jun 27, 2020

There are many types of safety glasses, including dust-proof glasses, impact-resistant glasses, chemical-resistant glasses, and anti-light radiation glasses. The first three glasses look like the lenses are colorless glass, but in fact, due to the different protection, the characteristics of the lenses are obviously different.

Some workers engaged in industrial production need to wear glasses to operate. These glasses are not for decoration and fashion, but for protecting eyes from harmful factors. Therefore, such glasses are called safety glasses.

Workers engaged in electric welding, gas welding, steel making, and glass blowing should wear anti-arc radiation glasses. However, the color of the lenses of arc-proof radiation glasses is dark and light, which is designed according to different requirements. The selection should be based on the strength of the arc during operation. The intensity of the arc and the color should be deep; otherwise, light-colored lenses should be selected. If the arc light is strongly worn with light-colored goggles, part of the infrared rays will stimulate and damage the eyes through the lens, and occupational cataracts will continue to occur in the long run; otherwise, the arc light is weak and long-term wearing of dark safety protective glasses will greatly reduce vision.

Therefore, every worker who needs to wear protective glasses should understand the harmful factors of his working environment, wear appropriate safety protective glasses, and should not wear a pass.

Dust-proof glasses are used in environments with a lot of dust, and the general lens fastness requirements are not high. No matter the eye mask type or the flat mirror type, they are made of general flat glass lenses. The anti-impact glasses are used to prevent small particles from flying out of the eyes. The lenses require impact resistance. For example, the workers, sanders, and stone workers should wear anti-impact glasses. If these workers wear general dust-proof glasses, then Iron sand and crushed stone are smashed when striking the glasses, and the eyes will be more damaged. The lenses of chemical-resistant glasses are resistant to acids and alkalis and corrode, which is not available in other glasses.
