Mucuna Pruriens Extract Powder is extracted from the seeds of Mucuna pruriens (L.).
Mucuna, an annual twining vine. The tender pods and seeds are poisonous, but after being boiled or soaked in water for a day and night, they can be used as vegetable food or feed; they can also be used as green manure crops, which are one of the important raw materials for the extraction of levodopa.
Levodopa is a prodrug of dopamine (DA), which itself has no pharmacological activity. It enters the center through the blood-brain barrier and is converted into DA by dopa decarboxylase to exert pharmacological effects.
