Organic Quillaja Saponaria Extract, also known as the "soap bark tree" or "soapbark," is an evergreen tree that is a member of the family Quillajaceae and is native to the warm, temperate central part of Chile. It occurs as high as 2000 meters (6,500 feet) above sea level in Chile, approximately between 32 and 40 degrees South Latitude. It can reach heights of 15 to 20 meters (50 to 65 feet). The tree's bark is thick and dark; oval, smooth, shiny, leathery, 3–5 cm long evergreen leaves; white, 15-millimeter-diameter stars in dense corymbs; as well as a dry fruit with five follicles containing 10 to 20 seeds each.
