Houttuynia cordata Extract is an extract made from the whole plant or above-ground part of Houttuynia cordata Thunb. through solvent extraction. The appearance is a fine brown-yellow powder. It has clearing heat and detoxification, eliminating carbuncle and thickening, diuresis and leaching.
It is used for the effects of lung carbuncle spitting pus, phlegm-heat asthma and cough, heat dysentery, hot shower, carbuncle swelling and sore toxin. Take the decoction for oral administration, 15～30g (double for fresh products), not long decoction. External use: appropriate amount, pound and compress; or decoction, fumigation and washing.

Houttuyniae (English name: Herba Houttuyniae) is an herbal medicine included in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia. The source of the herbal medicine is the dry aerial part of Saururus chinensis (Latin scientific name: Houttuynia cordata Thunb.).
