What is Forsythia Extract?
The fruit of the Meloidaceae family plant Forsythia suspensa is used to make forsythia extract. It is mostly composed of phenolic components (Forsythia suspensa), rich in vitamins, alkaloids, saponins, oleanolic acid, and coumarins. There is also a minor amount of volatile oil present.
Forsythia suspensa extract exhibits a broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, demonstrating a high inhibitory impact against both Shigella flexneri and Staphylococcus aureus. It also has an antifungal and inhibiting effect on influenza viruses.
