Bacteriostatic effect of Lo Han Guo Powder:

Studies have shown that the ethanolic extracts of Luo Han Guo leave and stems have obvious inhibitory effects on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Micrococcus luteus, and Candida albicans. For the first time, the researchers extracted and isolated 5 ingredients with antibacterial effects on Streptococcus mutans, Actinobacillus actinomyces, Fusobacterium nucleatum and yeast Candida albicans from Luo Han Guo leaves.

The saponins extracted from Luo Han Guo flowers have strong inhibitory effects on Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, Salmonella and Staphylococcus aureus, Rhizopus, Aspergillus niger, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The components in Luo Han Guo fruit were separated by HPLC, and it was determined by colorimetry that Luo Han Guo fruit had a significant inhibitory effect on Streptococcus mutans, an oral bacteria. The bacteriostatic effect of the Luo Han Guo extract was above 0.9 at pH 4, about 0.8 at pH 5, and about 0.5 when the pH rose above 6. At the same time, the Luo Han Guo extract had good thermal stability.
