What is Tanshinone?
A class of abietane diterpene chemicals called tanshinones has been discovered from Salvia miltiorrhiza, a well-known TCM herb also known in Chinese as Danshen or Tanshen.
Tannhinones are a class of chemical substances. Tanshinone I, IIA, and dihydrotanshinone are a few examples. Because they are all prevalent in nature, it is possible to isolate each of these chemicals from Salvia miltiorrhiza. Dihydrotanshinone I has been shown to be cytotoxic to a large number of tumor cells.
