Production Method:
Acetic acid is used as a solvent and anhydrous sodium acetate is used as a catalyst. In addition, zinc powder and acetic acid are added to the system to form a reduction system to avoid the oxidative loss of tocopherol. The reaction mixture was stirred at 100-140 °C for 2-8 h. The product was mixed with an appropriate amount of water and extracted with n-hexane. The d alpha tocopheryl succinate was washed with water, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and filtered. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain the crude succinic acid monoester of tocopherol. It was further purified by alumina chromatography to obtain a product with a purity of 99.5%.
